Rune started out life as a barbarian on the alien world of Darkur.  He slayed a dragon and ate it's flesh, hoping to gain power. He also destroyed a gem that contained a powerful being. The curse of the being, to cause suffering, fell to Rune. He also gained vampiric abilities.

Rune vs. Venom

Shortly before the symbiote, invasion the protector of the stargate, who happened to be a symbiote very similar to venom, meddled with the stargate switching it on. This allowed the being known as Rune to enter the marvel universe. Rune kills the symbiotes host but the symbiote forces itself on rune. Sometime later, in symbiote invasion venom became a traitor and killed many other symbiotes to protect earth at spiderman's side along with a hero known as the scarlet spider. Upon seeing this, the symbiote who became one with rune set out to punish the traitor by commiting sever ghastley murders and leaving venom's name on the nearest walls with the victom's blood. S.H.I.E.L.D. agents set out and in a brief battle with venom accidentally give away all the imformation of the killer. Venom searches for the killer and meets him. The symbiotic rune easily overpowers venom, poisons him with a bite into his neck and tells him that he will suffer by watching his mate, Ann Weying, die at his hand and then that he will die and departs. Now a weakened venom must batlle both the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and a symbiotic god. Just on question: how can anyone manage that?

Johnny Domino was a gifted saxophonist that was struck in a car accident. A piece of metal was embedded in his brain because of the accident but he miraculously lived. More than living, Johnny Domino gained the ability to telepathically read evil thoughts and his eyes were permanently dialated, so he could see better in the dark. Feeling responsible with ihs powers, Johnny Domino became the Night Man, saving innocents across San Francisco.

A high school student named Amber Hunt is one of the most popular girls in her school and very spoiled. In the middle of her biology class, Amber Hunt and the rest of her classmates find that a battle between ultras, people with super-human powers, is going on right outside of their school. To Amber Hunt's surprise, she finds that both factions of ultras are fighting over her. The winner of the fight, the Exiles, gather Amber Hunt before she can escape and they take her to their secret headquarters: an island off the coast of California. There she meets Doctor Rachel Deming, who explains that the Exiles saved Amber from certain death. Meanwhile, the Supreme Soviet informs Malcolm Kort, the man who hired him to capture Amber Hunt, that he has failed. Supreme Soviet still demands payment and Kort introduces him to Hot Rox, a powerful ultra. Hot Rox places Supreme Soviet in a holding tank that exposes him to an mRNA gene therapy that would give people with the Theta virus a super power, but kills those without it. Since Supreme Soviet is only human, it effectively killed him...
