Summary:

I THINK I'M PARANOID: After a routine run-in with the villainous JACK O'LANTERN, Spider-Man is convinced that his spider-sense is on the fritz, when it starts warning him of danger seemingly at random. Turns out, there's a bigger threat than Jack O'Lantern to worry about, though.

Almost ten years ago, Ultimate Spider-Man launched the Ultimate line, a reinvention of the Marvel Universe that defied the odds and every expectation. Today, it happens again: This new chapter in the life of the teenaged webslinger picks up in the aftermath of Ultimatum and completely redefines the status quo of Spider-Man for the next generation!

After a series of unsuccessful battles with Spider-Man, Norman Osborn, Dr. Octopus, Electro and the Sandman have been incarcerated together in a prison-wing of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Triskelion. Charged with illegally tampering with their genetic structure, Nick Fury claims that they're there at his pleasure, de-powered and with no hope of release. There is, however, hope of rehabilitation if they choose to co-operate with S.H.I.E.L.D.  Elsewhere in the city, Kraven the Hunter has returned. In a televised interview, he offers viewers the chance to see him hunt down Spider-Man and this time the outcome will be in his favor. But what of the rumors of a "new and improved" Kraven? Will this bring him to the attention of The Ultimates?

Kree spy Mahr Vehl defects when the commander the expeditionary force he came with, Yahn Rgg, has gone mad due to Gah Lak Tus and decided the humans must not be allowed any chance to escape their fates. Mahr Vehl, patronizingly referred to as Captain Marvel, alerts Nick Fury, who calls in the Ultimates and Fantastic Four to face the Kree threat. Yahn Rgg's ship is destroyed, and Fury acquires their data on Gah Lak Tus in the hope of finding some way to defend Earth from the real threat.
