In this first episode of this American Gothic tale we meet Martin, a great depression era boy who lives alone with his father, an alcoholic railroad man. His father teaches Martin everything there is to know about trains - including the legend of the Hellbound Train. When Martins father gets killed in a strange train accident at midnight, the boy is put in orphanage from where he escapes and try´s a life of hobo and small time criminal. Eventually he joins the Salvation Army, but seduces the commanders daughter and is cast away. But then the Hellbound Train comes for him and he makes a deal with it´s "conductor"; he will have the ability to stop once the time for eternity for a seat in the train.

As a Heart Hunter, Psyche makes a living by killing other people's soulmates on the cursed island of Envecor. When Marius, the king, hires Psyche to kill his soulmate, she takes on the task thinking it will be just another job. But when Psyche meets Isaac, the king's soulmate, she realizes there is more to him than meets the eye and that this task will be even more complicated than she had initially thought. As Psyche journeys to the center of the island to figure out how to kill Isaac or risk the king's wrath, she undertakes her own journey of mending her broken heart and possibly ending the curse on the island forever. Note: The digital edition (8/24/2021) for this volume was released before the print edition.

Marvel UK launched Dracula Lives on 26th October 1974, the same week as another title, Planet of the Apes; they were Marvel UK's 4th and 5th titles. Taking a departure from the other stories thus far reprinted by Marvel UK, Dracula ventured away from Marvel's superhero titles to the new 1970s horror comics, reprinting Dracula from Tomb of Dracula as its lead strip, with back-ups initially from Marvel Spotlight's Werewolf by Night tales, and later Frankenstein Monster, the Living Mummy, Man-Thing, Ghost Rider and Son of Satan. Reflecting this, the comic's title modified to Dracula Lives featuring the Legion of Monsters with #60. The final issue of Dracula Lives, #87, was released on 16th June 1976; a week later it merged into Planet of the Apes, creating a somewhat bizarre combination of apes and vampires.
