The story begins with Logan talking to James and Heather Hudson at a time before he became an X-Man. They tell Logan that they have made an appointment for him with the doctor that invented the adamantium alloy. He goes there searching for answers about his adamantium skeleton and missing memories. When Logan gets there, what he finds instead are various spies and assassins there waiting for him, including Sabretooth, HYDRA, Nick Fury, and Carol Danvers. They have all tracked down Logan to either intercept him or kill him. Logan, unnerved that some of these strangers appear to know him, must fight off those that would do him harm, and help those that appear to be his allies, though he has no memory of any of them.
The stories explored what happened to G.I. Joe and Cobra concurrently with the main continuity of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, with the exception of the first arc. Larry Hama wrote Frontline's initial offering, "The Mission That Never Was," a four-part series set one month after the events of the Marvel G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero issue #155.
After tracking down Hyena to the Gotham printing press, Dark Claw attempts to subdue his hated foe but before the battle can be won, several of Hyena's goons manage to disrupt the battle allowing their boss to escape and Dark Claw being rescued by his side kick, Sparrow. All the while being watched by Boosh the Dim (George Bush) and Cha-nee the Grim (Dick Chaney). BY the end of the issue he meets Hilaria (Hilary Clinton).
Red Sarah, wandering the Northern wastelands, stumbles upon the gates of a fabulous city on a hill, apparently deserted. Meanwhile, her least favorite barbarian finds another entrance to the same city. Neither suspects the secret horror guarding the city’s treasures, and neither will escape unscathed—if they escape at all! All done in the classic Conan style: gorgeous black line art on paper!
